Meditation and hypnosis therapy address issues such as stress, anxiety, lack of focus, etc. are also offered to comprehensively treat each patient.
The most common conditions that Dr. Mata treats are: neck & back pain; nerve pain, sciatica, numbness & tingling; headaches & migraines; accidents & falls; T.M.J. (jaw tension/problems); joint pain (elbows, knees, wrist, ankle & feet); stiffness & tension, limited range of motion; rib injuries; auto accident injuries; posture, work & lifestyle related problems; and stress
We look at everything that affects your health or problems such as: sleep, posture, gait, occupation, exercise or lack thereof, and of course, stress, anxiety, and insomnia.
Craniosacral Therapy is an Osteopathic-Chiropractic technique dating back to the 1930’s. The techniques are all focused on a connective tissue called fascia. The objective is the normalization of the functioning of the central nervous system which is achieved through the easing of restrictions in the fascia which are inhibiting the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
The cerebrospinal fluid begins in the vortex of the brain where is manufactured out of blood plasma. The cortex normally creates the CSF at a rate of 8-12 times per minute. With a reduction in the flow of CSF all other systems in the body are also impaired in direction proportion to the impairment in the nervous system.
A typical treatment lasts for approximately 45-50 minutes. An average treatment plan consists of 4-8 sessions – usually once a week (any time lapse in between sessions only increases the time taken to achieve an overall balance). The therapy itself is non-invasive (generally) and is extremely relaxing – so much so that people frequently fall deeply asleep for shorts periods of time.
Those who have experienced acupressure will find this therapy to feel most like a light acupressure treatment or possibly a polarity balancing session. Patients can expect lessened muscle tension, particularly around the shoulder, neck, and jaw areas; and experience deeper states of sleep.
Our licensed massage therapist provides various forms of bodywork including: deep tissue, Swedish massage, Shaistu, and Chinese Tuina with the option of Cupping Therapy in 30, 60 or 90 minute treatment sessions.
Hypnosis entails deep relaxation, suggestion and accessing the subconscious mind. It is a natural state of consciousness that we experience everyday for brief moments, unconsciously, as we do day-dreaming. Hypnosis, as deep self-suggestion, can help us to change habits and patterns that we have acquired and that run our lives - habits of action and reaction, of emotions, of thought, of self-identity. We often identify with “bad” habits that are so detrimental to us, so unhealthy. We can acquire “good habits” that serve us well and support our health.
The key techniques are deep relaxation, breathing, and suggestion. It only works if you accept the suggestions give to you by the hypnotherapist and make them your own. Hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Contrary to some popular notions, you cannot be made to do anything you don’t want to do. And, you are always conscious.
The most common conditions people seek hypnosis for are stress, anxiety, insomnia, teeth grinding at night, fears such as fear of flying, and public speaking. People also want help in enjoying life more, not being so driven or busy that they feel they are missing the beauty of life.
